1. ಹೊನ್ನು ಮಾಯೆ ಎಂಬರು, ಹೊನ್ನು ಮಾಯೆಯಲ್ಲ. ಹೆಣ್ಣು ಮಾಯೆ ಎಂಬರು, ಹೆಣ್ಣು ಮಾಯೆಯಲ್ಲ. ಮಣ್ಣು ಮಾಯೆ ಎಂಬರು, ಮಣ್ಣು ಮಾಯೆಯಲ್ಲ. ಮನದ ಮುಂದಣ ಆಸೆಯೆ ಮಾಯೆ ಕಾಣಾ ಗುಹೇಶ್ವರ.

   Honnu maye embaru, honnu mayeyalla. Hennu maye embaru, hennu mayeyalla. Mannu maye embaru, mannu mayeyalla. Manada mundana aseye maye kana Guheshvara.

   They say gold is illusion, but gold is not illusion. They say woman is illusion, but woman is not illusion. They say land is illusion, but land is not illusion. The desire standing before the mind is the illusion, Guheshvara.

   लोग कहते हैं सोना माया है, पर सोना माया नहीं। कहते हैं स्त्री माया है, पर स्त्री माया नहीं। कहते हैं ज़मीन माया है, पर ज़मीन माया नहीं। मन के सामने खड़ी इच्छा ही माया है, देखो गुहेश्वर।

2. ಎತ್ತಣ ಮಾಮರ ಎತ್ತಣ ಕೋಗಿಲೆ, ಎತ್ತಣಿಂದೆತ್ತ ಸಂಬಂಧವಯ್ಯಾ? ಬೆಟ್ಟದ ಮೇಲಣ ನೆಲ್ಲಿಯ ಕಾಯಿ ಸಮುದ್ರದೊಳಗಣ ಉಪ್ಪು, ಎತ್ತಣಿಂದೆತ್ತ ಸಂಬಂಧವಯ್ಯಾ? ಗುಹೇಶ್ವರಲಿಂಗಕ್ಕೆಯೂ ನಮಗೆಯೂ ಎತ್ತಣಿಂದೆತ್ತ ಸಂಬಂಧವಯ್ಯಾ.

   Ettana mamara ettana kogile, ettanindetta sambandhavayya? Bettada melana nelliya kayi samudradolagana uppu, ettanindetta sambandhavayya? Guheshvaralingakkeyu namageyu ettanindetta sambandhavayya.

   The mango tree from somewhere, the cuckoo from somewhere else: what bond joins them? The gooseberry on the hill, the salt in the sea: what bond joins them? Between Guheshvara Linga and us, what a bond, from so far apart!

   आम का पेड़ कहीं का, कोयल कहीं की; इनका आपस में क्या नाता? पहाड़ पर का आँवला, समुद्र का नमक; इनका आपस में क्या नाता? गुहेश्वर लिंग और हमारा, कहाँ से कहाँ का नाता है!

3. ಆಸೆಗೆ ಸತ್ತುದು ಕೋಟಿ, ಆಮಿಷಕ್ಕೆ ಸತ್ತುದು ಕೋಟಿ, ಹೊನ್ನು ಹೆಣ್ಣು ಮಣ್ಣಿಂಗೆ ಸತ್ತುದು ಕೋಟಿ. ಗುಹೇಶ್ವರಾ ನಿಮಗಾಗಿ ಸತ್ತವರನಾರನೂ ಕಾಣೆ.

   Asege sattudu koti, amishakke sattudu koti, honnu hennu manninge sattudu koti. Guheshvara nimagagi sattavaranaranu kane.

   Crores have died for desire, crores have died for temptation, crores have died for gold, women and land. Guheshvara, I see no one who died for you.

   करोड़ों इच्छा के लिए मरे, करोड़ों लालच के लिए मरे, करोड़ों सोने, स्त्री और ज़मीन के लिए मरे। हे गुहेश्वर, तुम्हारे लिए मरने वाला मुझे कोई नहीं दिखता।

4. ಬೆಟ್ಟಕ್ಕೆ ಚಳಿಯಾದೊಡೆ ಏನ ಹೊದಿಸುವರಯ್ಯಾ? ಬಯಲು ಬತ್ತಲೆ ಇದ್ದಡೆ ಏನ ನುಡಿಸುವರಯ್ಯಾ? ಭಕ್ತನು ಭವಿಯಾದಡೆ ಅದೇನನುಪಮಿಸುವೆನಯ್ಯಾ ಗುಹೇಶ್ವರಾ?

   Bettakke chaliyadode ena hodisuvarayya? Bayalu battale iddade ena nudisuvarayya? Bhaktanu bhaviyadade adenanupamisuvenayya Guheshvara?

   If the mountain feels cold, what can you cover it with? If open space stands naked, what can you dress it in? If a devotee turns worldly, Guheshvara, what can I compare him to?

   पहाड़ को ठंड लगे तो उसे क्या ओढ़ाओगे? खुला आकाश नंगा हो तो उसे क्या पहनाओगे? हे गुहेश्वर, अगर भक्त ही सांसारिक बन जाए तो उसकी तुलना मैं किससे करूँ?

5. ಕಲ್ಲ ಮನೆಯ ಮಾಡಿ ಕಲ್ಲ ದೇವರ ಮಾಡಿ ಆ ಕಲ್ಲು ಕಲ್ಲ ಮೇಲೆ ಕೆಡೆದಡೆ, ದೇವರೆತ್ತ ಹೋದರೊ? ಲಿಂಗಪ್ರತಿಷ್ಠೆಯ ಮಾಡಿದವಂಗೆ ನಾಯಕನರಕ, ಗುಹೇಶ್ವರಾ.

   Kalla maneya madi kalla devara madi a kallu kalla mele kededade, devaretta hodaro? Lingapratishtheya madidavange nayakanaraka, Guheshvara.

   You build a house of stone and make a god of stone; if one stone falls on the other, where did the god go? For the one who sets up a linga in a temple, Guheshvara, there is the worst of hells.

   पत्थर का घर बनाया, पत्थर का देवता बनाया; अगर एक पत्थर दूसरे पर गिर पड़े, तो देवता कहाँ गए? हे गुहेश्वर, मंदिर में लिंग की प्रतिष्ठा करने वाले के लिए सबसे बड़ा नरक है।

6. ಉದಕದೊಳಗೆ ಕಿಚ್ಚು ಹುಟ್ಟಿ ಸುಡುತಿರ್ದುದ ಕಂಡೆ, ಗಗನದ ಮೇಲೆ ಮಾಮರನ ಕಂಡೆ, ಪಕ್ಕವಿಲ್ಲದ ಹಕ್ಕಿ ಬಯಲ ನುಂಗಿತ್ತ ಕಂಡೆ ಗುಹೇಶ್ವರಾ.

   Udakadolage kichchu hutti sudutirduda kande, gaganada mele mamarana kande, pakkavillada hakki bayala nungitta kande Guheshvara.

   I saw fire born in water, burning; I saw a mango tree up in the sky; I saw a wingless bird swallow the open void, Guheshvara.

   मैंने पानी में आग पैदा होकर जलते देखी, आकाश में आम का पेड़ देखा, और बिना पंख की चिड़िया को शून्य निगलते देखा, हे गुहेश्वर।

7. ತನುವ ತೋಂಟವ ಮಾಡಿ ಮನವ ಗುದ್ದಲಿ ಮಾಡಿ ಅಗೆದು ಕಳೆದೆನಯ್ಯಾ ಭ್ರಾಂತಿನ ಬೇರ ಒಡೆದು ಸಂಸಾರದ ಹೆಂಟೆಯ ಬಗಿದು ಬಿತ್ತಿದೆನಯ್ಯಾ ಬ್ರಹ್ಮಬೀಜವ. ಅಖಂಡಮಂಡಲವೆಂಬ ಬಾವಿ, ಪವನವೆ ರಾಟಾಳ ಸುಷುಮ್ನನಾಳದಿಂದ ಉದಕವ ತಿದ್ದಿ ಬಸವಗಳೈವರು ಹಸಗೆಡಿಸಿಹವೆಂದು ಸಮತೆ ಸೈರಣೆಯೆಂಬ ಬೇಲಿಯನಿಕ್ಕಿ, ಆವಾಗಳೂ ಈ ತೋಂಟದಲ್ಲಿ ಜಾಗರವಿದ್ದು ಸಸಿಯ ಸಲಹಿದೆನು ಕಾಣಾ ಗುಹೇಶ್ವರಾ.

   Tanuva tontava madi manava guddali madi agedu kaledenayya bhrantina bera odedu samsarada henteya bagidu bittidenayya brahmabeejava. Akhandamandalavemba bavi, pavanave ratala sushumnanaladinda udakava tiddi basavagalaivaru hasagedisihavendu samate sairaneyemba beliyanikki, avagalu ee tontadalli jagaraviddu sasiya salahidenu kana Guheshvara.

   Making my body the garden and my mind the spade, I dug and weeded, breaking the roots of delusion; I broke the clods of worldly life and sowed the seed of Brahman. The unbroken sphere was the well, the breath was the water-wheel, and I drew water through the channel of the sushumna. Since the five bulls of the senses would trample it, I put up a fence of equanimity and patience, and, keeping watch over this garden at all times, I tended the sapling, Guheshvara.

   शरीर को बगीचा और मन को कुदाल बनाकर मैंने खोदा और निराई की, भ्रम की जड़ें तोड़ीं, संसार के ढेले फोड़कर ब्रह्म का बीज बोया। अखंड मंडल ही कुआँ था, प्राण-वायु ही रहट; सुषुम्ना की नाली से पानी सींचा। पाँच बैल (इंद्रियाँ) इसे रौंद देंगे, इसलिए समता और सहनशीलता की बाड़ लगाई, और इस बगीचे में हर समय जागकर पौधे की रक्षा की, हे गुहेश्वर।

8. ಬಯಲು ಬಯಲನೆ ಬಿತ್ತಿ ಬಯಲು ಬಯಲನೆ ಬೆಳೆದು ಬಯಲು ಬಯಲಾಗಿ ಬಯಲಾಯಿತ್ತಯ್ಯಾ. ಬಯಲ ಜೀವನ ಬಯಲ ಭಾವನೆ, ಬಯಲು ಬಯಲಾಗಿ ಬಯಲಾಯಿತ್ತಯ್ಯಾ. ನಿಮ್ಮ ಪೂಜಿಸಿದವರು ಮುನ್ನವೆ ಬಯಲಾದರು ನಾ ನಿಮ್ಮ ನಂಬಿ ಬಯಲಾದೆ ಗುಹೇಶ್ವರಾ.

   Bayalu bayalane bitti bayalu bayalane beledu bayalu bayalagi bayalayittayya. Bayala jeevana bayala bhavane, bayalu bayalagi bayalayittayya. Nimma pujisidavaru munnave bayaladaru na nimma nambi bayalade Guheshvara.

   The void sowed the void, the void grew the void, and the void, becoming void, dissolved into the void. A life of the void, a feeling of the void: the void became void and dissolved. Those who worshipped you dissolved into the void long ago; trusting you, I too have become the void, Guheshvara.

   शून्य ने शून्य बोया, शून्य ने शून्य उगाया, और शून्य शून्य होकर शून्य में मिल गया। शून्य का जीवन, शून्य की भावना; शून्य शून्य होकर शून्य हो गया। तुम्हें पूजने वाले पहले ही शून्य हो गए; तुम पर भरोसा करके मैं भी शून्य हो गया, हे गुहेश्वर।

9. ಎರಡೆಂಬತ್ತು ಕೋಟಿ ಗೀತವ ಹಾಡಿದರೇನಯ್ಯಾ? ಬೆಟ್ಟಕ್ಕೆ ನಾಯಿ ಬೊಗಳಿದಂತಾಯಿತ್ತಯ್ಯಾ. ಮನವು ಘನವ ನೆಮ್ಮದು, ಘನವು ಮನವ ನೆಮ್ಮದು. ಹಾಡಿದರೇನು ಓದಿದರೇನು? ಗುಹೇಶ್ವರ ನೀನೊಲಿದ ಕಾಲಕ್ಕೆ ಎರಡೆಂಬತ್ತು ಕೋಟಿ ಗೀತವೆಲ್ಲವೂ ನಿಮ್ಮದೊಂದು ಮಾತಿನೊಳಡಕವಯ್ಯಾ.

   Eradembattu koti geetava hadidarenayya? Bettakke nayi bogalidantayittayya. Manavu ghanava nemmadu, ghanavu manava nemmadu. Hadidarenu odidarenu? Guheshvara neenolida kalakke eradembattu koti geetavellavu nimmadondu matinoladakavayya.

   What if you sing a hundred and sixty crore songs? It is like a dog barking at a mountain. The mind does not rest on the Great, and the Great does not rest on the mind. What use is singing, what use is reading? Guheshvara, when you are pleased, all those crores of songs are held in a single word of yours.

   एक सौ साठ करोड़ गीत गाने से क्या होगा? यह तो पहाड़ पर कुत्ते के भौंकने जैसा है। मन महान पर नहीं टिकता, महान मन पर नहीं टिकता। गाने से क्या, पढ़ने से क्या? हे गुहेश्वर, जब तुम प्रसन्न होते हो, तो वे सारे करोड़ों गीत तुम्हारे एक शब्द में समा जाते हैं।

10. ಸತ್ಯವೂ ಇಲ್ಲ, ಅಸತ್ಯವೂ ಇಲ್ಲ, ಸಹಜವೂ ಇಲ್ಲ, ಅಸಹಜವೂ ಇಲ್ಲ, ನಾನೂ ಇಲ್ಲ, ನೀನೂ ಇಲ್ಲ. ಇಲ್ಲ ಇಲ್ಲ ಎಂಬುದು ತಾನಿಲ್ಲ ಗುಹೇಶ್ವರನೆಂಬುದು ತಾ ಬಯಲು!

    Satyavu illa, asatyavu illa, sahajavu illa, asahajavu illa, nanu illa, neenu illa. Illa illa embudu tanilla Guheshvaranembudu ta bayalu!

    There is no truth and no untruth, nothing natural and nothing unnatural, no I and no you. Even saying ‘there is not, there is not’ is not. What is called Guheshvara is itself the open void!

    न सत्य है, न असत्य; न सहज है, न असहज; न मैं हूँ, न तुम। ‘नहीं है, नहीं है’ कहना भी नहीं है। जिसे गुहेश्वर कहते हैं, वह स्वयं शून्य है!
