1. ಉಳ್ಳವರು ಶಿವಾಲಯ ಮಾಡಿಹರು, ನಾನೇನ ಮಾಡುವೆ ಬಡವನಯ್ಯಾ. ಎನ್ನ ಕಾಲೇ ಕಂಬ, ದೇಹವೇ ದೇಗುಲ, ಶಿರ ಹೊನ್ನ ಕಲಶವಯ್ಯಾ. ಕೂಡಲಸಂಗಮದೇವಾ, ಕೇಳಯ್ಯಾ, ಸ್ಥಾವರಕ್ಕಳಿವುಂಟು, ಜಂಗಮಕ್ಕಳಿವಿಲ್ಲ.

   Ullavaru Shivalaya madiharu, nanena maduve badavanayya. Enna kale kamba, dehave degula, shira honna kalashavayya. Kudalasangamadeva, kelayya, sthavarakkalivuntu, jangamakkalivilla.

   The rich build temples for Shiva; what shall I, a poor man, do? My legs are the pillars, my body the temple, my head the golden dome. Listen, Kudalasangamadeva: what stands still will perish, but what moves will never perish.

   धनी लोग शिवालय बनवाते हैं, मैं गरीब क्या करूँ? मेरे पैर ही खंभे हैं, शरीर ही मंदिर है, सिर सोने का कलश है। सुनो कूडलसंगमदेव, जो स्थिर है वह नष्ट होता है, जो चलायमान है वह कभी नष्ट नहीं होता।

2. ಕಳಬೇಡ, ಕೊಲಬೇಡ, ಹುಸಿಯ ನುಡಿಯಲು ಬೇಡ, ಮುನಿಯಬೇಡ, ಅನ್ಯರಿಗೆ ಅಸಹ್ಯಪಡಬೇಡ, ತನ್ನ ಬಣ್ಣಿಸಬೇಡ, ಇದಿರ ಹಳಿಯಲು ಬೇಡ. ಇದೇ ಅಂತರಂಗಶುದ್ಧಿ, ಇದೇ ಬಹಿರಂಗಶುದ್ಧಿ, ಇದೇ ನಮ್ಮ ಕೂಡಲಸಂಗಮದೇವರನೊಲಿಸುವ ಪರಿ.

   Kalabeda, kolabeda, husiya nudiyalu beda, muniyabeda, anyarige asahyapadabeda, tanna bannisabeda, idira haliyalu beda. Ide antarangashuddhi, ide bahirangashuddhi, ide namma Kudalasangamadevaranolisuva pari.

   Do not steal, do not kill, do not lie, do not be angry, do not look on others with disgust, do not praise yourself, do not belittle others. This is inner purity, this is outer purity; this is the way to win the love of our Kudalasangamadeva.

   चोरी मत करो, हत्या मत करो, झूठ मत बोलो, क्रोध मत करो, दूसरों से घृणा मत करो, अपनी तारीफ़ मत करो, दूसरों की निंदा मत करो। यही भीतर की शुद्धि है, यही बाहर की शुद्धि है, यही हमारे कूडलसंगमदेव को प्रसन्न करने का तरीका है।

3. ದಯವಿಲ್ಲದ ಧರ್ಮವದೇವುದಯ್ಯಾ, ದಯವೇ ಬೇಕು ಸರ್ವಪ್ರಾಣಿಗಳೆಲ್ಲರಲ್ಲಿ. ದಯವೇ ಧರ್ಮದ ಮೂಲವಯ್ಯಾ, ಕೂಡಲಸಂಗಯ್ಯನಂತಲ್ಲದೊಲ್ಲನಯ್ಯಾ.

   Dayavillada dharmavadevudayya, dayave beku sarvapranigalellaralli. Dayave dharmada mulavayya, Kudalasangayyanantalladollanayya.

   What kind of dharma has no compassion? There must be compassion for all living beings. Compassion is the root of dharma; Kudalasangayya will accept nothing less.

   दया के बिना कौन सा धर्म? सभी प्राणियों के प्रति दया होनी चाहिए। दया ही धर्म की जड़ है; कूडलसंगय्या इसके बिना कुछ स्वीकार नहीं करते।

4. ಇವನಾರವ, ಇವನಾರವ, ಇವನಾರವನೆಂದೆನಿಸದಿರಯ್ಯಾ. ಇವ ನಮ್ಮವ, ಇವ ನಮ್ಮವ, ಇವ ನಮ್ಮವನೆಂದೆನಿಸಯ್ಯಾ. ಕೂಡಲಸಂಗಮದೇವಾ, ನಿಮ್ಮ ಮನೆಯ ಮಗನೆಂದೆನಿಸಯ್ಯಾ.

   Ivanarava, ivanarava, ivanaravanendenisadirayya. Iva nammava, iva nammava, iva nammavanendenisayya. Kudalasangamadeva, nimma maneya maganendenisayya.

   Don’t let me ask, ‘Who is he, who is he, who is he?’ Let me say, ‘He is one of us, one of us, one of us.’ Kudalasangamadeva, let me be called a son of your house.

   मुझसे यह मत कहलवाओ कि ‘यह कौन है, यह कौन है, यह कौन है?’ मुझसे कहलवाओ कि ‘यह हमारा है, यह हमारा है, यह हमारा है।’ हे कूडलसंगमदेव, मुझे अपने घर का बेटा कहलवाओ।

5. ನುಡಿದಡೆ ಮುತ್ತಿನ ಹಾರದಂತಿರಬೇಕು. ನುಡಿದಡೆ ಮಾಣಿಕ್ಯದ ದೀಪ್ತಿಯಂತಿರಬೇಕು. ನುಡಿದಡೆ ಸ್ಫಟಿಕದ ಸಲಾಕೆಯಂತಿರಬೇಕು. ನುಡಿದಡೆ ಲಿಂಗ ಮೆಚ್ಚಿ ಅಹುದಹುದನಬೇಕು. ನುಡಿಯೊಳಗಾಗಿ ನಡೆಯದಿದ್ದಡೆ, ಕೂಡಲಸಂಗಮದೇವನೆಂತೊಲಿವನಯ್ಯಾ.

   Nudidade muttina haradantirabeku. Nudidade manikyada deeptiyantirabeku. Nudidade sphatikada salakeyantirabeku. Nudidade linga mechchi ahudahudenabeku. Nudiyolagagi nadeyadiddade, Kudalasangamadevanentolivanayya.

   When you speak, your words should be like a string of pearls, like the glow of a ruby, like a clear rod of crystal; when you speak, the Linga itself should be pleased and say, ‘Yes, yes.’ If your actions don’t match your words, how will Kudalasangamadeva love you?

   जब बोलो तो शब्द मोतियों की माला जैसे हों, माणिक की चमक जैसे हों, स्फटिक की छड़ जैसे साफ़ हों; जब बोलो तो लिंग प्रसन्न होकर कहे, ‘हाँ, हाँ।’ अगर कथनी के अनुसार करनी न हो, तो कूडलसंगमदेव कैसे प्रसन्न होंगे?

6. ಲೋಕದ ಡೊಂಕ ನೀವೇಕೆ ತಿದ್ದುವಿರಿ, ನಿಮ್ಮ ನಿಮ್ಮ ತನುವ ಸಂತೈಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳಿ, ನಿಮ್ಮ ನಿಮ್ಮ ಮನವ ಸಂತೈಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳಿ. ನೆರೆಮನೆಯ ದುಃಖಕ್ಕೆ ಅಳುವವರ ಮೆಚ್ಚ ಕೂಡಲಸಂಗಮದೇವ.

   Lokada donka neeveke tidduviri, nimma nimma tanuva santaisikolli, nimma nimma manava santaisikolli. Neremaneya duhkhakke aluvavara mechcha Kudalasangamadeva.

   Why do you try to straighten the crookedness of the world? Look after your own body, settle your own mind. Kudalasangamadeva is not pleased by those who weep over the neighbour’s troubles.

   दुनिया का टेढ़ापन तुम क्यों सुधारते हो? अपना-अपना शरीर संभालो, अपना-अपना मन शांत करो। पड़ोसी के दुख पर रोने वालों से कूडलसंगमदेव प्रसन्न नहीं होते।

7. ಕಲ್ಲ ನಾಗರ ಕಂಡಡೆ ಹಾಲನೆರೆಯೆಂಬರು, ದಿಟದ ನಾಗರ ಕಂಡಡೆ ಕೊಲ್ಲೆಂಬರಯ್ಯಾ. ಉಂಬ ಜಂಗಮ ಬಂದಡೆ ನಡೆಯೆಂಬರು, ಉಣ್ಣದ ಲಿಂಗಕ್ಕೆ ಬೋನವ ಹಿಡಿಯೆಂಬರಯ್ಯಾ. ನಮ್ಮ ಕೂಡಲಸಂಗನ ಶರಣರ ಕಂಡು ಉದಾಸೀನವ ಮಾಡಿದಡೆ, ಕಲ್ಲ ತಾಗಿದ ಮಿಟ್ಟೆಯಂತಪ್ಪರಯ್ಯಾ.

   Kalla nagara kandade halanereyembaru, ditada nagara kandade kollembarayya. Umba jangama bandade nadeyembaru, unnada lingakke bonava hidiyembarayya. Namma Kudalasangana sharanara kandu udaseenava madidade, kalla tagida mitteyantapparayya.

   When they see a stone snake, they say, ‘Pour milk on it’; when they see a real snake, they say, ‘Kill it.’ When a wandering devotee who can eat comes, they say, ‘Move on’; to the Linga that cannot eat, they offer food. Those who ignore the devotees of our Kudalasanga will be like a clod of earth dashed against a stone.

   पत्थर का साँप देखते हैं तो कहते हैं ‘दूध चढ़ाओ’; असली साँप देखते हैं तो कहते हैं ‘मार डालो।’ खाने वाला जंगम (साधु) आए तो कहते हैं ‘आगे बढ़ो’; न खाने वाले लिंग को भोग चढ़ाते हैं। हमारे कूडलसंग के शरणों की उपेक्षा करने वाले पत्थर से टकराए मिट्टी के ढेले जैसे बिखर जाते हैं।

8. ಜಗದಗಲ ಮುಗಿಲಗಲ ಮಿಗೆಯಗಲ ನಿಮ್ಮಗಲ, ಪಾತಾಳದಿಂದವೆ ಅತ್ತತ್ತ ನಿಮ್ಮ ಶ್ರೀಚರಣ, ಬ್ರಹ್ಮಾಂಡದಿಂದವೆ ಅತ್ತತ್ತ ನಿಮ್ಮ ಶ್ರೀಮಕುಟ, ಅಗಮ್ಯ ಅಗೋಚರ ಅಪ್ರತಿಮ ಲಿಂಗವೆ, ಕೂಡಲಸಂಗಮದೇವಯ್ಯಾ, ಎನ್ನ ಕರಸ್ಥಲಕ್ಕೆ ಬಂದು ಚುಳುಕಾದಿರಯ್ಯಾ.

   Jagadagala mugilagala migeyagala nimmagala, Pataladindave attatta nimma shricharana, brahmandadindave attatta nimma shrimakuta, agamya agochara apratima Lingave, Kudalasangamadevayya, enna karasthalakke bandu chulukadirayya.

   Wide as the world, wide as the sky, and wider still is your breadth. Your holy feet reach beyond the underworld, your holy crown beyond the universe. Unreachable, unseen, peerless Linga, Kudalasangamadeva, you have come into my palm and become a tiny drop.

   जगत जितने चौड़े, आकाश जितने चौड़े, उससे भी अधिक तुम्हारा विस्तार है। तुम्हारे पवित्र चरण पाताल से भी परे हैं, तुम्हारा मुकुट ब्रह्मांड से भी परे। हे अगम्य, अगोचर, अनुपम लिंग, कूडलसंगमदेव, तुम मेरी हथेली में आकर छोटी सी बूँद बन गए।

9. ವೇದಕ್ಕೆ ಒರೆಯ ಕಟ್ಟುವೆ, ಶಾಸ್ತ್ರಕ್ಕೆ ನಿಗಳವನಿಕ್ಕುವೆ, ತರ್ಕದ ಬೆನ್ನ ಬಾರನೆತ್ತುವೆ, ಆಗಮದ ಮೂಗ ಕೊಯಿವೆ, ನೋಡಯ್ಯಾ. ಮಹಾದಾನಿ ಕೂಡಲಸಂಗಮದೇವಾ, ಮಾದಾರ ಚೆನ್ನಯ್ಯನ ಮನೆಯ ಮಗ ನಾನಯ್ಯಾ.

   Vedakke oreya kattuve, shastrakke nigalavanikkuve, tarkada benna baranettuve, agamada muga koyive, nodayya. Mahadani Kudalasangamadeva, Madara Chennayyana maneya maga nanayya.

   I will put the Vedas to the test, put the Shastras in chains, flog the back of logic and cut off the nose of the Agamas, see. O most generous Kudalasangamadeva, I am a son of the house of Madara Chennayya, the cobbler saint.

   मैं वेदों को कसौटी पर कसूँगा, शास्त्रों को बेड़ियाँ डालूँगा, तर्क की पीठ पर चाबुक चलाऊँगा, आगमों की नाक काट दूँगा, देखो। हे महादानी कूडलसंगमदेव, मैं मोची संत मादार चन्नय्या के घर का बेटा हूँ।

10. ಒಲೆ ಹತ್ತಿ ಉರಿದಡೆ ನಿಲಬಹುದಲ್ಲದೆ, ಧರೆ ಹತ್ತಿ ಉರಿದಡೆ ನಿಲಲುಬಾರದು. ಏರಿ ನೀರುಂಬಡೆ, ಬೇಲಿ ಕೆಯ್ಯ ಮೇವಡೆ, ನಾರಿ ತನ್ನ ಮನೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಕಳುವಡೆ, ತಾಯ ಮೊಲೆವಾಲು ನಂಜಾಗಿ ಕೊಲುವಡೆ, ಇನ್ನಾರಿಗೆ ದೂರುವೆ ಕೂಡಲಸಂಗಮದೇವಾ!

    Ole hatti uridade nilabahudallade, dhare hatti uridade nilalubaradu. Eri neerumbade, beli keyya mevade, nari tanna maneyalli kaluvade, taya molevalu nanjagi koluvade, innarige duruve Kudalasangamadeva!

    If the stove catches fire, you can step away; if the earth itself catches fire, there is nowhere to stand. If the dam drinks the water, if the fence eats the crop, if the woman of the house steals in her own home, if a mother’s milk turns to poison and kills, to whom can one complain, Kudalasangamadeva?

    चूल्हे में आग लगे तो दूर खड़े हो सकते हैं, पर धरती में ही आग लगे तो कहीं खड़े नहीं रह सकते। अगर बाँध ही पानी पी जाए, बाड़ ही खेत चर जाए, घर की स्त्री ही अपने घर में चोरी करे, माँ का दूध ही ज़हर बनकर मार डाले, तो हे कूडलसंगमदेव, किससे शिकायत करें!
