1. ॐ बालरविद्युतिमिन्दुकिरीटां तुङ्गकुचां नयनत्रययुक्ताम्।
   स्मेरमुखीं वरदाङ्कुशपाशाभीतिकरां प्रभजे भुवनेशीम्॥

   Om balaravidyutimindukiritam tungakucham nayanatrayayuktam, smeramukhim varadankushapashabhitikaram prabhaje bhuvaneshim.

   Om. I worship Bhuvaneshi, queen of the worlds, radiant as the rising sun, crowned with the moon, three-eyed and smiling, whose hands hold the goad and noose and show the gestures of blessing and fearlessness.

   ॐ। मैं उन भुवनेश्वरी देवी का भजन करता हूँ जो उगते सूर्य जैसी तेजस्वी हैं, जिनके मुकुट में चंद्रमा है, जो तीन नेत्रों वाली और मुस्कुराते मुख वाली हैं, और जिनके हाथों में अंकुश, पाश, वरमुद्रा और अभयमुद्रा है।

2. ऋषिरुवाच॥

3. देव्या हते तत्र महासुरेन्द्रे सेन्द्राः सुरा वह्निपुरोगमास्ताम्।
   कात्यायनीं तुष्टुवुरिष्टलाभाद् विकाशिवक्त्राब्जविकाशिताशाः॥

   Devya hate tatra mahasurendre sendrah sura vahnipurogamastam, katyayanim tushtuvurishtalabhad vikashivaktrabjavikashitashah.

   When the Goddess had slain the great demon king, the gods led by Agni, with Indra, praised Katyayani. Their wish fulfilled, their faces bloomed like lotuses and lit up the directions.

   जब देवी ने वहाँ महान असुरराज का वध कर दिया, तब इंद्र सहित अग्नि आदि देवताओं ने कात्यायनी की स्तुति की। मनचाहा फल पाकर उनके कमल जैसे मुख खिल उठे और दिशाएँ जगमगा उठीं।

4. देवि प्रपन्नार्तिहरे प्रसीद प्रसीद मातर्जगतोऽखिलस्य।
   प्रसीद विश्वेश्वरि पाहि विश्वं त्वमीश्वरी देवि चराचरस्य॥

   Devi prapannartihare prasida prasida matarjagatokhilasya, prasida vishveshvari pahi vishvam tvamishvari devi characharasya.

   O Goddess, who removes the pain of those who come to you, be gracious. Be gracious, Mother of the whole world. Be gracious, queen of the universe, and protect it, for you rule all that moves and does not move.

   हे शरणागतों का दुख हरने वाली देवी, प्रसन्न हों। हे सम्पूर्ण जगत की माता, प्रसन्न हों। हे विश्वेश्वरी, प्रसन्न होकर विश्व की रक्षा करें, क्योंकि आप ही चर-अचर की स्वामिनी हैं।

5. आधारभूता जगतस्त्वमेका महीस्वरूपेण यतः स्थितासि।
   अपां स्वरूपस्थितया त्वयैतदाप्यायते कृत्स्नमलङ्घ्यवीर्ये॥

   Adharabhuta jagatastvameka mahisvarupena yatah sthitasi, apam svarupasthitaya tvayaitadapyayate kritsnamalanghyavirye.

   You alone are the support of the world, for you abide as the earth. And as the waters, O Goddess of unconquerable power, you nourish all of it.

   आप ही जगत का एकमात्र आधार हैं, क्योंकि आप पृथ्वी के रूप में स्थित हैं। हे अजेय शक्ति वाली देवी, जल के रूप में आप ही इस सारे जगत का पोषण करती हैं।

6. त्वं वैष्णवी शक्तिरनन्तवीर्या विश्वस्य बीजं परमासि माया।
   सम्मोहितं देवि समस्तमेतत् त्वं वै प्रसन्ना भुवि मुक्तिहेतुः॥

   Tvam vaishnavi shaktiranantavirya vishvasya bijam paramasi maya, sammohitam devi samastametat tvam vai prasanna bhuvi muktihetuh.

   You are Vishnu’s power, of endless might, the seed of the universe, the supreme Maya. You have bewitched this whole world, O Goddess, and when pleased, you are the cause of liberation on earth.

   आप अनंत बल वाली वैष्णवी शक्ति हैं, विश्व का बीज और परम माया हैं। हे देवी, आपने ही इस सारे जगत को मोहित कर रखा है, और प्रसन्न होने पर आप ही पृथ्वी पर मुक्ति का कारण बनती हैं।

7. विद्याः समस्तास्तव देवि भेदाः स्त्रियः समस्ताः सकला जगत्सु।
   त्वयैकया पूरितमम्बयैतत् का ते स्तुतिः स्तव्यपरा परोक्तिः॥

   Vidyah samastastava devi bhedah striyah samastah sakala jagatsu, tvayaikaya puritamambayaitat ka te stutih stavyapara paroktih.

   All forms of knowledge are aspects of you, O Goddess, and so are all women in all the worlds. You alone, the Mother, fill this universe. What praise can describe you, who are beyond all praise?

   हे देवी, सारी विद्याएँ आपके ही रूप हैं, और संसार की सभी स्त्रियाँ भी। एक आप माँ ने ही इस जगत को भर रखा है। जो स्तुति से परे हैं, उनकी स्तुति कौन से शब्द कर सकते हैं?

8. सर्वभूता यदा देवी स्वर्गमुक्तिप्रदायिनी।
   त्वं स्तुता स्तुतये का वा भवन्तु परमोक्तयः॥

   Sarvabhuta yada devi svargamuktipradayini, tvam stuta stutaye ka va bhavantu paramoktayah.

   When you, the Goddess who is all beings and grants heaven and liberation, are praised, what words could be fine enough to praise you?

   जब आप ही सब प्राणियों के रूप में हैं और स्वर्ग व मोक्ष देने वाली हैं, तो आपकी स्तुति के लिए कौन से श्रेष्ठ वचन पर्याप्त हो सकते हैं?

9. सर्वस्य बुद्धिरूपेण जनस्य हृदि संस्थिते।
   स्वर्गापवर्गदे देवि नारायणि नमोऽस्तु ते॥

   Sarvasya buddhirupena janasya hridi samsthite, svargapavargade devi narayani namostu te.

   You who dwell in the heart of every being as intelligence, Goddess who grants heaven and liberation: Narayani, salutations to you.

   हे देवी, आप सब लोगों के हृदय में बुद्धि के रूप में स्थित हैं और स्वर्ग व मोक्ष देने वाली हैं। हे नारायणी, आपको नमस्कार है।

10. कलाकाष्ठादिरूपेण परिणामप्रदायिनि।
    विश्वस्योपरतौ शक्ते नारायणि नमोऽस्तु ते॥

    Kalakashthadirupena parinamapradayini, vishvasyoparatau shakte narayani namostu te.

    You who bring change through moments and the units of time, the power that ends the universe: Narayani, salutations to you.

    आप कला, काष्ठा आदि समय के रूपों में बदलाव लाती हैं और विश्व का अंत करने वाली शक्ति हैं। हे नारायणी, आपको नमस्कार है।

11. सर्वमङ्गलमङ्गल्ये शिवे सर्वार्थसाधिके।
    शरण्ये त्र्यम्बके गौरि नारायणि नमोऽस्तु ते॥

    Sarvamangalamangalye shive sarvarthasadhike, sharanye tryambake gauri narayani namostu te.

    Most auspicious of all that is auspicious, Shivaa, who fulfils every aim, refuge of all, three-eyed Gauri: Narayani, salutations to you.

    आप सभी मंगलों में मंगलमयी, कल्याणी शिवा, सब कार्य सिद्ध करने वाली, शरण देने वाली, त्रिनेत्री गौरी हैं। हे नारायणी, आपको नमस्कार है।

12. सृष्टिस्थितिविनाशानां शक्तिभूते सनातनि।
    गुणाश्रये गुणमये नारायणि नमोऽस्तु ते॥

    Srishtisthitivinashanam shaktibhute sanatani, gunashraye gunamaye narayani namostu te.

    Eternal one, the power behind creation, preservation and destruction, home of the three gunas and made of them: Narayani, salutations to you.

    हे सनातनी, आप सृष्टि, पालन और संहार की शक्ति हैं, तीनों गुणों का आधार और गुणमयी हैं। हे नारायणी, आपको नमस्कार है।

13. शरणागतदीनार्तपरित्राणपरायणे।
    सर्वस्यार्तिहरे देवि नारायणि नमोऽस्तु ते॥

    Sharanagatadinartaparitranaparayane, sarvasyartihare devi narayani namostu te.

    You who are devoted to saving the poor and suffering who take refuge in you, Goddess who removes everyone’s pain: Narayani, salutations to you.

    आप शरण में आए दीन-दुखियों की रक्षा में लगी रहती हैं और सबकी पीड़ा हरती हैं। हे नारायणी, आपको नमस्कार है।

14. हंसयुक्तविमानस्थे ब्रह्माणीरूपधारिणि।
    कौशाम्भःक्षरिके देवि नारायणि नमोऽस्तु ते॥

    Hamsayuktavimanasthe brahmanirupadharini, kaushambhahksharike devi narayani namostu te.

    You who ride a chariot drawn by swans in the form of Brahmani, sprinkling holy water from kusha grass: Narayani, salutations to you.

    आप हंसों वाले विमान पर बैठी ब्रह्माणी के रूप में कुश से जल छिड़कती हैं। हे नारायणी, आपको नमस्कार है।

15. त्रिशूलचन्द्राहिधरे महावृषभवाहिनि।
    माहेश्वरीस्वरूपेण नारायणि नमोऽस्तु ते॥

    Trishulachandrahidhare mahavrishabhavahini, maheshvarisvarupena narayani namostu te.

    You who hold the trident, the moon and serpents and ride the great bull, in the form of Maheshvari: Narayani, salutations to you.

    आप माहेश्वरी के रूप में त्रिशूल, चंद्रमा और सर्प धारण करती हैं और विशाल बैल पर सवार हैं। हे नारायणी, आपको नमस्कार है।

16. मयूरकुक्कुटवृते महाशक्तिधरेऽनघे।
    कौमारीरूपसंस्थाने नारायणि नमोऽस्तु ते॥

    Mayurakukkutavrite mahashaktidharenaghe, kaumarirupasamsthane narayani namostu te.

    Sinless one, attended by peacock and rooster, holding the great spear, in the form of Kaumari: Narayani, salutations to you.

    हे निष्पाप, आप मोर और मुर्गे से घिरी, महाशक्ति (भाला) धारण किए कौमारी रूप में हैं। हे नारायणी, आपको नमस्कार है।

17. शङ्खचक्रगदाशार्ङ्गगृहीतपरमायुधे।
    प्रसीद वैष्णवीरूपे नारायणि नमोऽस्तु ते॥

    Shankhachakragadasharngagrihitaparamayudhe, prasida vaishnavirupe narayani namostu te.

    You who hold the supreme weapons, conch, discus, mace and bow, in the form of Vaishnavi, be gracious: Narayani, salutations to you.

    आप वैष्णवी रूप में शंख, चक्र, गदा और शार्ङ्ग धनुष जैसे श्रेष्ठ अस्त्र धारण करती हैं, प्रसन्न हों। हे नारायणी, आपको नमस्कार है।

18. गृहीतोग्रमहाचक्रे दंष्ट्रोद्धृतवसुन्धरे।
    वराहरूपिणि शिवे नारायणि नमोऽस्तु ते॥

    Grihitogramahachakre damshtroddhritavasundhare, varaharupini shive narayani namostu te.

    Auspicious one in the form of the Boar, holding the fierce great discus and lifting the earth on your tusk: Narayani, salutations to you.

    हे कल्याणी, आप वाराही रूप में भयंकर महाचक्र धारण करती हैं और दाँतों पर पृथ्वी को उठाती हैं। हे नारायणी, आपको नमस्कार है।

19. नृसिंहरूपेणोग्रेण हन्तुं दैत्यान् कृतोद्यमे।
    त्रैलोक्यत्राणसहिते नारायणि नमोऽस्तु ते॥

    Nrisimharupenogrena hantum daityan kritodyame, trailokyatranasahite narayani namostu te.

    You who, in the fierce form of Narasimha, set out to slay the demons and protect the three worlds: Narayani, salutations to you.

    आपने उग्र नरसिंह रूप में दैत्यों को मारने और तीनों लोकों की रक्षा का बीड़ा उठाया। हे नारायणी, आपको नमस्कार है।

20. किरीटिनि महावज्रे सहस्रनयनोज्ज्वले।
    वृत्रप्राणहरे चैन्द्रि नारायणि नमोऽस्तु ते॥

    Kiritini mahavajre sahasranayanojjvale, vritrapranahare chaindri narayani namostu te.

    Aindri, crowned, holding the great thunderbolt, shining with a thousand eyes, who took the life of Vritra: Narayani, salutations to you.

    हे ऐन्द्री, आप मुकुटधारी, महावज्र लिए, हजार नेत्रों से दमकती और वृत्रासुर के प्राण हरने वाली हैं। हे नारायणी, आपको नमस्कार है।

21. शिवदूतीस्वरूपेण हतदैत्यमहाबले।
    घोररूपे महारावे नारायणि नमोऽस्तु ते॥

    Shivadutisvarupena hatadaityamahabale, ghorarupe maharave narayani namostu te.

    You who, as Shivaduti, crushed the mighty demon army, terrible in form and thunderous in voice: Narayani, salutations to you.

    आपने शिवदूती रूप में दैत्यों की विशाल सेना का नाश किया, आपका रूप भयानक और गर्जना प्रचंड है। हे नारायणी, आपको नमस्कार है।

22. दंष्ट्राकरालवदने शिरोमालाविभूषणे।
    चामुण्डे मुण्डमथने नारायणि नमोऽस्तु ते॥

    Damshtrakaralavadane shiromalavibhushane, chamunde mundamathane narayani namostu te.

    Chamunda, with a face fearsome with fangs, adorned with a garland of heads, slayer of Munda: Narayani, salutations to you.

    हे चामुंडा, आपका मुख दाँतों से भयानक है, आप मुंडमाला पहनती हैं और मुंड का वध करने वाली हैं। हे नारायणी, आपको नमस्कार है।

23. लक्ष्मि लज्जे महाविद्ये श्रद्धे पुष्टि स्वधे ध्रुवे।
    महारात्रि महाऽविद्ये नारायणि नमोऽस्तु ते॥

    Lakshmi lajje mahavidye shraddhe pushti svadhe dhruve, maharatri mahavidye narayani namostu te.

    Lakshmi, modesty, great knowledge, faith, nourishment, Svadha, the steadfast one, the great night and the great illusion: Narayani, salutations to you.

    आप लक्ष्मी, लज्जा, महाविद्या, श्रद्धा, पुष्टि, स्वधा, ध्रुवा, महारात्रि और महा-अविद्या हैं। हे नारायणी, आपको नमस्कार है।

24. मेधे सरस्वति वरे भूति बाभ्रवि तामसि।
    नियते त्वं प्रसीदेशे नारायणि नमोऽस्तु ते॥

    Medhe sarasvati vare bhuti babhravi tamasi, niyate tvam prasideshe narayani namostu te.

    Wisdom, Sarasvati, the excellent one, prosperity, the tawny one, the dark one, the self-controlled: be gracious, sovereign Goddess. Narayani, salutations to you.

    आप मेधा, सरस्वती, श्रेष्ठा, विभूति, बाभ्रवी, तामसी और नियता हैं; हे ईश्वरी, प्रसन्न हों। हे नारायणी, आपको नमस्कार है।

25. सर्वस्वरूपे सर्वेशे सर्वशक्तिसमन्विते।
    भयेभ्यस्त्राहि नो देवि दुर्गे देवि नमोऽस्तु ते॥

    Sarvasvarupe sarveshe sarvashaktisamanvite, bhayebhyastrahi no devi durge devi namostu te.

    You who are the form of all, ruler of all, endowed with every power: protect us from all fears, Goddess Durga. Salutations to you.

    आप सर्वस्वरूपा, सबकी स्वामिनी और सारी शक्तियों से युक्त हैं। हे देवी दुर्गा, हमें सब भयों से बचाइए। आपको नमस्कार है।

26. एतत्ते वदनं सौम्यं लोचनत्रयभूषितम्।
    पातु नः सर्वभीतिभ्यः कात्यायनि नमोऽस्तु ते॥

    Etatte vadanam saumyam lochanatrayabhushitam, patu nah sarvabhitibhyah katyayani namostu te.

    May your gentle face, adorned with three eyes, protect us from every fear. Katyayani, salutations to you.

    तीन नेत्रों से सुशोभित आपका यह सौम्य मुख हमें सब भयों से बचाए। हे कात्यायनी, आपको नमस्कार है।

27. ज्वालाकरालमत्युग्रमशेषासुरसूदनम्।
    त्रिशूलं पातु नो भीतेर्भद्रकालि नमोऽस्तु ते॥

    Jvalakaralamatyugramasheshasurasudanam, trishulam patu no bhiterbhadrakali namostu te.

    May your trident, fierce with flames, terrible, destroyer of all demons, protect us from fear. Bhadrakali, salutations to you.

    ज्वालाओं से भयानक, अत्यंत उग्र और सब असुरों का नाश करने वाला आपका त्रिशूल हमें भय से बचाए। हे भद्रकाली, आपको नमस्कार है।

28. हिनस्ति दैत्यतेजांसि स्वनेनापूर्य या जगत्।
    सा घण्टा पातु नो देवि पापेभ्यो नः सुतानिव॥

    Hinasti daityatejamsi svanenapurya ya jagat, sa ghanta patu no devi papebhyo nah sutaniva.

    May your bell, whose sound fills the world and destroys the demons’ strength, protect us from sin, O Goddess, as a mother protects her children.

    जो घंटा अपनी ध्वनि से जगत को भरकर दैत्यों का तेज नष्ट करता है, हे देवी, वह हमें पापों से वैसे ही बचाए जैसे माँ अपने बच्चों को बचाती है।

29. असुरासृग्वसापङ्कचर्चितस्ते करोज्ज्वलः।
    शुभाय खड्गो भवतु चण्डिके त्वां नता वयम्॥

    Asurasrigvasapankacharchitaste karojjvalah, shubhaya khadgo bhavatu chandike tvam nata vayam.

    May your sword, gleaming in your hand and smeared with the blood of demons, be for our good, Chandika. We bow to you.

    असुरों के रक्त से सना, आपके हाथ में चमकता खड्ग हमारा कल्याण करे। हे चंडिका, हम आपको प्रणाम करते हैं।

30. रोगानशेषानपहंसि तुष्टा रुष्टा तु कामान् सकलानभीष्टान्।
    त्वामाश्रितानां न विपन्नराणां त्वामाश्रिता ह्याश्रयतां प्रयान्ति॥

    Roganasheshanapahamsi tushta rushta tu kaman sakalanabhishtan, tvamashritanam na vipannaranam tvamashrita hyashrayatam prayanti.

    When pleased you destroy all illness; when angered you destroy all hopes. Those who take refuge in you meet no misfortune; they become a refuge for others.

    प्रसन्न होने पर आप सारे रोग नष्ट कर देती हैं और रुष्ट होने पर सारी मनचाही इच्छाएँ। आपकी शरण में आए लोगों पर विपत्ति नहीं आती, बल्कि वे दूसरों को भी शरण देने वाले बन जाते हैं।

31. एतत्कृतं यत्कदनं त्वयाद्य धर्मद्विषां देवि महासुराणाम्।
    रूपैरनेकैर्बहुधाऽऽत्ममूर्तिं कृत्वाम्बिके तत्प्रकरोति कान्या॥

    Etatkritam yatkadanam tvayadya dharmadvisham devi mahasuranam, rupairanekairbahudhatmamurtim kritvambike tatprakaroti kanya.

    O Goddess, Mother, the slaughter you have made today of the great demons who hated dharma, taking many forms out of your own self: who else could do this?

    हे देवी अंबिका, आपने आज अपने अनेक रूप बनाकर धर्मद्रोही महादैत्यों का जो संहार किया, वह आपके सिवा और कौन कर सकता है?

32. विद्यासु शास्त्रेषु विवेकदीपेष्वाद्येषु वाक्येषु च का त्वदन्या।
    ममत्वगर्तेऽतिमहान्धकारे विभ्रामयत्येतदतीव विश्वम्॥

    Vidyasu shastreshu vivekadipeshvadyeshu vakyeshu cha ka tvadanya, mamatvagartetimahandhakare vibhramayatyetadativa vishvam.

    In the sciences, the scriptures and the ancient words that light the lamp of discernment, who is there but you? And it is you who make this world spin in the dark pit of attachment.

    विद्याओं, शास्त्रों और विवेक का दीपक जलाने वाले आदि वचनों में आपके सिवा कौन है? और आप ही इस संसार को ममता के घोर अंधकार भरे गड्ढे में घुमाती रहती हैं।

33. रक्षांसि यत्रोग्रविषाश्च नागा यत्रारयो दस्युबलानि यत्र।
    दावानलो यत्र तथाब्धिमध्ये तत्र स्थिता त्वं परिपासि विश्वम्॥

    Rakshamsi yatrogravishashcha naga yatrarayo dasyubalani yatra, davanalo yatra tathabdhimadhye tatra sthita tvam paripasi vishvam.

    Where there are demons and deadly snakes, enemies and bands of robbers, forest fires and the middle of the sea, there you stand and protect the world.

    जहाँ राक्षस और भयंकर विषैले नाग हों, जहाँ शत्रु और लुटेरों के दल हों, जहाँ दावानल हो और समुद्र के बीच भी, वहाँ आप उपस्थित रहकर विश्व की रक्षा करती हैं।

34. विश्वेश्वरि त्वं परिपासि विश्वं विश्वात्मिका धारयसीति विश्वम्।
    विश्वेशवन्द्या भवती भवन्ति विश्वाश्रया ये त्वयि भक्तिनम्राः॥

    Vishveshvari tvam paripasi vishvam vishvatmika dharayasiti vishvam, vishveshavandya bhavati bhavanti vishvashraya ye tvayi bhaktinamrah.

    Queen of the universe, you protect it; as its very soul, you hold it up. You are worshipped by the lord of the universe, and those who bow to you in devotion become the refuge of the world.

    हे विश्वेश्वरी, आप विश्व की रक्षा करती हैं और विश्वरूपा होकर उसे धारण करती हैं। विश्वनाथ भी आपकी वंदना करते हैं, और जो भक्ति से आपके आगे झुकते हैं, वे विश्व को आश्रय देने वाले बन जाते हैं।

35. देवि प्रसीद परिपालय नोऽरिभीतेर्नित्यं यथासुरवधादधुनैव सद्यः।
    पापानि सर्वजगतां प्रशमं नयाशु उत्पातपाकजनितांश्च महोपसर्गान्॥

    Devi prasida paripalaya noribhiternityam yathasuravadhadadhunaiva sadyah, papani sarvajagatam prashamam nayashu utpatapakajanitamshcha mahopasargan.

    O Goddess, be gracious. Protect us always from the fear of enemies, just as you have now swiftly done by slaying the demons. Quickly quell the sins of all the worlds and the great calamities born of evil omens.

    हे देवी, प्रसन्न हों। जैसे आपने अभी असुरों को मारकर तुरंत हमारी रक्षा की, वैसे ही सदा हमें शत्रुओं के भय से बचाइए। सारे जगत के पाप और अपशकुनों से उपजे बड़े उपद्रव जल्दी शांत कीजिए।

36. प्रणतानां प्रसीद त्वं देवि विश्वार्तिहारिणि।
    त्रैलोक्यवासिनामीड्ये लोकानां वरदा भव॥

    Pranatanam prasida tvam devi vishvartiharini, trailokyavasinamidye lokanam varada bhava.

    O Goddess who removes the world’s suffering, be gracious to us who bow to you. Adored by all who dwell in the three worlds, grant blessings to all the worlds.

    हे विश्व का दुख हरने वाली देवी, हम शरणागतों पर प्रसन्न हों। हे तीनों लोकों के निवासियों द्वारा पूजित, सब लोकों को वर दीजिए।

37. देव्युवाच॥

    The Goddess said:

    देवी ने कहा:

38. वरदाहं सुरगणा वरं यन्मनसेच्छथ।
    तं वृणुध्वं प्रयच्छामि जगतामुपकारकम्॥

    Varadaham suragana varam yanmanasechchhatha, tam vrinudhvam prayachchhami jagatamupakarakam.

    O gods, I am ready to grant a boon. Choose whatever boon you wish in your hearts that will help the world, and I will give it.

    हे देवताओ, मैं वर देने को तैयार हूँ। जगत का भला करने वाला जो भी वर तुम मन से चाहते हो, माँगो, मैं दूँगी।

39. देवा ऊचुः॥

    The gods said:

    देवताओं ने कहा:

40. सर्वाबाधाप्रशमनं त्रैलोक्यस्याखिलेश्वरि।
    एवमेव त्वया कार्यमस्मद्वैरिविनाशनम्॥

    Sarvabadhaprashamanam trailokyasyakhileshvari, evameva tvaya karyamasmadvairivinashanam.

    Sovereign of all, calm every trouble of the three worlds, and in the same way destroy our enemies.

    हे सर्वेश्वरी, तीनों लोकों की सारी बाधाएँ शांत कीजिए और इसी तरह हमारे शत्रुओं का नाश करती रहिए।

41. देव्युवाच॥

    Devyuvacha.

    The Goddess said:

    देवी ने कहा:

42. वैवस्वतेऽन्तरे प्राप्ते अष्टाविंशतिमे युगे।
    शुम्भो निशुम्भश्चैवान्यावुत्पत्स्येते महासुरौ॥

    Vaivasvatentare prapte ashtavimshatime yuge, shumbho nishumbhashchaivanyavutpatsyete mahasurau.

    In the age of Vaivasvata Manu, in the twenty-eighth cycle of ages, two other great demons, Shumbha and Nishumbha, will be born.

    वैवस्वत मन्वंतर के अट्ठाईसवें युग में शुंभ और निशुंभ नाम के दो और महादैत्य जन्म लेंगे।

43. नन्दगोपगृहे जाता यशोदागर्भसम्भवा।
    ततस्तौ नाशयिष्यामि विन्ध्याचलनिवासिनी॥

    Nandagopagrihe jata yashodagarbhasambhava, tatastau nashayishyami vindhyachalanivasini.

    Then, born in the house of the cowherd Nanda from the womb of Yashoda, I will dwell on the Vindhya mountains and destroy them both.

    तब मैं नंद गोप के घर यशोदा के गर्भ से जन्म लेकर विंध्याचल पर रहूँगी और उन दोनों का नाश करूँगी।

44. पुनरप्यतिरौद्रेण रूपेण पृथिवीतले।
    अवतीर्य हनिष्यामि वैप्रचित्तांस्तु दानवान्॥

    Punarapyatiraudrena rupena prithivitale, avatirya hanishyami vaiprachittamstu danavan.

    Again, taking a most fearsome form, I will descend to earth and slay the demons of Vipracitta’s line.

    फिर मैं अत्यंत भयंकर रूप में पृथ्वी पर अवतार लेकर विप्रचित्ति वंश के दानवों का वध करूँगी।

45. भक्षयन्त्याश्च तानुग्रान् वैप्रचित्तान्महासुरान्।
    रक्ता दन्ता भविष्यन्ति दाडिमीकुसुमोपमाः॥

    Bhakshayantyashcha tanugran vaiprachittanmahasuran, rakta danta bhavishyanti dadimikusumopamah.

    As I devour those fierce great demons, my teeth will turn red like pomegranate flowers.

    उन भयंकर महादैत्यों को खाते समय मेरे दाँत अनार के फूल जैसे लाल हो जाएँगे।

46. ततो मां देवताः स्वर्गे मर्त्यलोके च मानवाः।
    स्तुवन्तो व्याहरिष्यन्ति सततं रक्तदन्तिकाम्॥

    Tato mam devatah svarge martyaloke cha manavah, stuvanto vyaharishyanti satatam raktadantikam.

    Then the gods in heaven and people on earth will praise me and always call me Raktadantika, the red-toothed one.

    तब स्वर्ग में देवता और पृथ्वी पर मनुष्य मेरी स्तुति करते हुए मुझे सदा रक्तदंतिका कहेंगे।

47. भूयश्च शतवार्षिक्यामनावृष्ट्यामनम्भसि।
    मुनिभिः संस्तुता भूमौ सम्भविष्याम्ययोनिजा॥

    Bhuyashcha shatavarshikyamanavrishtyamanambhasi, munibhih samstuta bhumau sambhavishyamyayonija.

    And again, when there is no rain and no water for a hundred years, I will appear on earth, not born of a womb, praised by the sages.

    और फिर जब सौ वर्ष तक वर्षा न होगी और जल न रहेगा, तब मुनियों की स्तुति से मैं बिना गर्भ के पृथ्वी पर प्रकट होऊँगी।

48. ततः शतेन नेत्राणां निरीक्षिष्यामि यन्मुनीन्।
    कीर्तयिष्यन्ति मनुजाः शताक्षीमिति मां ततः॥

    Tatah shatena netranam nirikshishyami yanmunin, kirtayishyanti manujah shatakshimiti mam tatah.

    Since I will then look upon the sages with a hundred eyes, people will sing of me as Shatakshi, the hundred-eyed.

    क्योंकि तब मैं सौ नेत्रों से मुनियों को देखूँगी, इसलिए लोग मुझे शताक्षी नाम से गाएँगे।

49. ततोऽहमखिलं लोकमात्मदेहसमुद्भवैः।
    भरिष्यामि सुराः शाकैरावृष्टेः प्राणधारकैः॥

    Tatohamakhilam lokamatmadehasamudbhavaih, bharishyami surah shakairavrishteh pranadharakaih.

    Then, O gods, until the rains come, I will feed the whole world with life-sustaining vegetables grown from my own body.

    फिर, हे देवताओ, जब तक वर्षा न हो, मैं अपने शरीर से उपजी प्राण बचाने वाली शाक-सब्जियों से सारे जगत का पालन करूँगी।

50. शाकम्भरीति विख्यातिं तदा यास्याम्यहं भुवि।
    तत्रैव च वधिष्यामि दुर्गमाख्यं महासुरम्॥

    Shakambhariti vikhyatim tada yasyamyaham bhuvi, tatraiva cha vadhishyami durgamakhyam mahasuram.

    Then I will be famed on earth as Shakambhari, and there I will slay the great demon named Durgama.

    तब मैं पृथ्वी पर शाकंभरी नाम से प्रसिद्ध होऊँगी, और वहीं दुर्गम नाम के महादैत्य का वध करूँगी।

51. दुर्गा देवीति विख्यातं तन्मे नाम भविष्यति।
    पुनश्चाहं यदा भीमं रूपं कृत्वा हिमाचले॥

    Durga deviti vikhyatam tanme nama bhavishyati, punashchaham yada bhimam rupam kritva himachale.

    So my name will become famous as Goddess Durga. And again, when I take a terrible form in the Himalayas…

    इससे मेरा नाम दुर्गा देवी प्रसिद्ध होगा। और फिर जब मैं हिमालय पर भयानक रूप धारण करूँगी…

52. रक्षांसि भक्षयिष्यामि मुनीनां त्राणकारणात्।
    तदा मां मुनयः सर्वे स्तोष्यन्त्यानम्रमूर्तयः॥

    Rakshamsi bhakshayishyami muninam tranakaranat, tada mam munayah sarve stoshyantyanamramurtayah.

    …I will devour the demons to protect the sages. Then all the sages will bow down and praise me.

    …तब मुनियों की रक्षा के लिए राक्षसों को खा जाऊँगी। तब सब मुनि झुककर मेरी स्तुति करेंगे।

53. भीमा देवीति विख्यातं तन्मे नाम भविष्यति।
    यदारुणाख्यस्त्रैलोक्ये महाबाधां करिष्यति॥

    Bhima deviti vikhyatam tanme nama bhavishyati, yadarunakhyastrailokye mahabadham karishyati.

    My name will become famous as Bhima Devi, the fearsome Goddess. When the demon named Aruna causes great trouble in the three worlds…

    मेरा नाम भीमा देवी प्रसिद्ध होगा। जब अरुण नाम का दैत्य तीनों लोकों में भारी उपद्रव करेगा…

54. तदाहं भ्रामरं रूपं कृत्वाऽसङ्ख्येयषट्पदम्।
    त्रैलोक्यस्य हितार्थाय वधिष्यामि महासुरम्॥

    Tadaham bhramaram rupam kritvasankhyeyashatpadam, trailokyasya hitarthaya vadhishyami mahasuram.

    …then I will take the form of countless bees and slay that great demon for the good of the three worlds.

    …तब मैं असंख्य भौंरों का रूप धारण करके तीनों लोकों के हित के लिए उस महादैत्य का वध करूँगी।

55. भ्रामरीति च मां लोकास्तदा स्तोष्यन्ति सर्वतः।
    इत्थं यदा यदा बाधा दानवोत्था भविष्यति॥

    Bhramariti cha mam lokastada stoshyanti sarvatah, ittham yada yada badha danavottha bhavishyati.

    Then people everywhere will praise me as Bhramari. In this way, whenever trouble arises from the demons…

    तब सब ओर लोग मुझे भ्रामरी कहकर पूजेंगे। इस प्रकार जब-जब दानवों से बाधा उत्पन्न होगी…

56. तदा तदावतीर्याहं करिष्याम्यरिसंक्षयम्॥

    Tada tadavatiryaham karishyamyarisankshayam.

    …then each time I will descend and destroy the enemies.

    …तब-तब मैं अवतार लेकर शत्रुओं का नाश करूँगी।

57. इति श्रीमार्कण्डेयपुराणे सावर्णिके मन्वन्तरे देवीमाहात्म्ये देव्याः स्तुतिर्नामैकादशोऽध्यायः॥

    Iti shrimarkandeyapurane savarnike manvantare devimahatmye devyah stutirnamaikadashodhyayah.

    Thus ends the eleventh chapter of the Devi Mahatmya, in the Markandeya Purana, called the Hymn to the Goddess.

    इस प्रकार मार्कण्डेय पुराण के देवी माहात्म्य का ‘देवी स्तुति’ नामक ग्यारहवाँ अध्याय पूरा हुआ।
