1. त्वामेकदा गुरुमरुत्पुरनाथ वोढुं गाढाधिरूढगरिमाणमपारयन्ती।
   माता निधाय शयने किमिदं बतेति ध्यायन्त्यचेष्टत गृहेषु निविष्टशङ्का॥

   Tvamekada gurumarutpuranatha vodhum gadhadhirudhagarimanamaparayanti, mata nidhaya shayane kimidam bateti dhyayantyacheshtata griheshu nivishtashanka.

   Lord of Guruvayur, one day your mother could not carry you, for you had grown very heavy. Laying you on the bed and wondering anxiously, “What is this?”, she went about her household work.

   हे गुरुवायुर के स्वामी, एक दिन माँ आपको उठा न सकीं, क्योंकि आप बहुत भारी हो गए थे। आपको बिस्तर पर लिटाकर, “हाय, यह क्या है?” सोचती हुई, मन में शंका लिए वे घर के कामों में लग गईं।

2. तावद्विदूरमुपकर्णितघोरघोषव्याजृम्भिपांसुपटलीपरिपूरिताशः।
   वात्यावपुः स किल दैत्यवरस्तृणावर्ताख्यो जहार जनमानसहारिणं त्वाम्॥

   Tavadviduramupakarnitaghoraghoshavyajrimbhipamsupataliparipuritashah, vatyavapuh sa kila daityavarastrinavartakhyo jahara janamanasaharinam tvam.

   Just then the great demon Trinavarta, in the form of a whirlwind, with a terrible roar heard from afar and clouds of dust filling the directions, carried you off, you who steal the hearts of all.

   तभी दूर से सुनाई देने वाले भयानक शोर और दिशाओं में भर गई धूल की परतों के साथ, बवंडर रूप वाला महादैत्य तृणावर्त, लोगों के मन हरने वाले आपको उठा ले गया।

3. उद्दामपांसुतिमिराहतदृष्टिपाते द्रष्टुं किमप्यकुशले पशुपाललोके।
   हा बालकस्य किमिति त्वदुपान्तमाप्ता माता भवन्तमविलोक्य भृशं रुरोद॥

   Uddamapamsutimirahatadrishtipate drashtum kimapyakushale pashupalaloke, ha balakasya kimiti tvadupantamapta mata bhavantamavilokya bhrisham ruroda.

   As the cowherds, blinded by the thick dust and darkness, could see nothing, your mother came to where you had been, and not finding you, cried out, “Oh, what has happened to my child?” and wept bitterly.

   जब घनी धूल के अँधेरे से नज़र रुक जाने के कारण ग्वाले कुछ भी देख न सके, तब माँ आपके पास आईं और आपको न पाकर, “हाय, मेरे बच्चे को क्या हुआ?” कहकर फूट-फूटकर रोने लगीं।

4. तावत्स दानववरोऽपि च दीनमूर्तिर्भावत्कभारपरिधारणलूनवेगः।
   सङ्कोचमाप तदनु क्षतपांसुघोषे घोषे व्यतायत भवज्जननीनिनादः॥

   Tavatsa danavavaropi cha dinamurtirbhavatkabharaparidharanalunavegah, sankochamapa tadanu kshatapamsughoshe ghoshe vyatayata bhavajjananininadah.

   Meanwhile that great demon, his speed broken by the weight of carrying you, grew feeble and shrank. Then, as the roar and dust died down, your mother’s cries spread through the village.

   इस बीच वह महादैत्य भी आपका भार उठाने से वेग खोकर दीन हो गया और सिकुड़ गया। फिर धूल और शोर थमने पर गाँव में आपकी माँ का रोना फैल गया।

5. रोदोपकर्णनवशादुपगम्य गेहं क्रन्दत्सु नन्दमुखगोपकुलेषु दीनः।
   त्वां दानवस्त्वखिलमुक्तिकरं मुमुक्षुस्त्वय्यप्रमुञ्चति पपात वियत्प्रदेशात्॥

   Rodopakarnanavashadupagamya geham krandatsu nandamukhagopakuleshu dinah, tvam danavastvakhilamuktikaram mumukshustvayyapramunchati papata viyatpradeshat.

   Hearing the weeping, Nanda and the cowherds came to the house and cried too. And the wretched demon, wanting to let go of you, who free all beings, but finding you would not let go of him, fell from the sky.

   रोना सुनकर नंद आदि ग्वाले घर आकर रोने लगे। और वह दीन दैत्य, सबको मुक्ति देने वाले आपको छोड़ना चाहता था, पर आपके न छोड़ने से आकाश से गिर पड़ा।

6. रोदाकुलास्तदनु गोपगणा बहिष्ठपाषाणपृष्ठभुवि देहमतिस्थविष्ठम्।
   प्रैक्षन्त हन्त निपतन्तममुष्य वक्षस्यक्षीणमेव च भवन्तमलं हसन्तम्॥

   Rodakulastadanu gopagana bahishthapashanaprishthabhuvi dehamatisthavishtham, praikshanta hanta nipatantamamushya vakshasyakshinameva cha bhavantamalam hasantam.

   Then the weeping cowherds saw his huge body fall onto a rock outside, and, wonder of wonders, you sitting on his chest, unhurt and laughing heartily.

   तब रोते हुए ग्वालों ने देखा कि उसका विशाल शरीर बाहर एक चट्टान पर गिरा है, और अहा, उसकी छाती पर आप बिना चोट के खिलखिलाकर हँस रहे हैं।

7. ग्रावप्रपातपरिपिष्टगरिष्ठदेहभ्रष्टासुदुष्टदनुजोपरि धृष्टहासम्।
   आघ्नानमम्बुजकरेण भवन्तमेत्य गोपा दधुर्गिरिवरादिव नीलरत्नम्॥

   Gravaprapataparipishtagarishthadehabhrashtasudushtadanujopari dhrishtahasam, aghnanamambujakarena bhavantametya gopa dadhurgirivaradiva nilaratnam.

   You sat laughing boldly on the wicked demon, lifeless, his great body crushed by the fall on the rock, striking him with your lotus hand. The cowherds came and lifted you up, like a sapphire from a great mountain.

   चट्टान पर गिरने से कुचले विशाल शरीर वाले, मरे हुए दुष्ट दैत्य पर बैठे आप ढिठाई से हँसते हुए उसे अपने कमल जैसे हाथ से मार रहे थे। ग्वालों ने आकर आपको ऐसे उठाया जैसे बड़े पर्वत से नीलमणि उठाते हैं।

8. एकैकमाशु परिगृह्य निकामनन्दन्नन्दादिगोपपरिरब्धविचुम्बिताङ्गम्।
   आदातुकामपरिशङ्कितगोपनारीहस्ताम्बुजप्रपतितं प्रणुमो भवन्तम्॥

   Ekaikamashu parigrihya nikamanandannandadigopaparirabdhavichumbitangam, adatukamaparishankitagopanarihastambujaprapatitam pranumo bhavantam.

   We bow to you, whom Nanda and the cowherds, overjoyed, took up one after another, hugging and kissing you, and who were passed into the lotus hands of the cowherd women, each hesitating yet longing to hold you.

   हम आपको प्रणाम करते हैं, जिन्हें नंद आदि ग्वालों ने बहुत आनंद से एक-एक करके उठाकर गले लगाया और चूमा, और जो लेने को उत्सुक पर झिझकती गोपियों के कमल जैसे हाथों में पहुँचे।

9. भूयोऽपि किन्नु कृणुमः प्रणतार्तिहारी गोविन्द एव परिपालयतात्सुतं नः।
   इत्यादि मातरपितृप्रमुखैस्तदानीं सम्प्रार्थितस्त्वदवनाय विभो त्वमेव॥

   Bhuyopi kinnu krinumah pranatartihari govinda eva paripalayatatsutam nah, ityadi matarapitripramukhaistadanim samprarthitastvadavanaya vibho tvameva.

   “What more can we do? May Govinda, who removes the pain of those who bow to him, protect our son.” So your mother, father and others prayed then for your protection, O Lord, to you alone.

   “हम और क्या करें? शरणागतों का दुख हरने वाले गोविंद ही हमारे बेटे की रक्षा करें।” हे विभु, तब माँ, पिता आदि ने आपकी रक्षा के लिए आपसे ही ऐसी प्रार्थना की।

10. वातात्मकं दनुजमेवमयि प्रधून्वन् वातोद्भवान्मम गदान्किमु नो धुनोषि।
    किं वा करोमि पुनरप्यनिलालयेश निश्शेषरोगशमनं मुहुरर्थये त्वाम्॥

    Vatatmakam danujamevamayi pradhunvan vatodbhavanmama gadankimu no dhunoshi, kim va karomi punarapyanilalayesha nishshesharogashamanam muhurarthaye tvam.

    You who shook off the demon made of wind, why do you not shake off my ailments caused by wind? What else can I do, Lord of Guruvayur? Again and again I ask you to cure all my illnesses.

    वायु रूप दैत्य को झकझोर कर मिटाने वाले आप, वात से उपजे मेरे रोगों को क्यों नहीं मिटाते? हे गुरुवायुर के स्वामी, मैं और क्या करूँ? बार-बार आपसे सारे रोगों की शांति माँगता हूँ।
