Tatashcha vrindavanatotidurato vanam gatastvam khalu gopagokulaih, hridantare bhaktataradvijanganakadambakanugrahanagraham vahan.
Then, with the cowherds and their herds, you went to a forest far from Vrindavan, carrying in your heart the wish to bless a group of brahmin wives who were deeply devoted to you.
Tato nirikshyasharane vanantare kishoralokam kshudhitam trishakulam, adurato yajnaparan dvijan prati vyasarjayo didiviyachanaya tan.
There, in the shelterless forest, seeing the boys hungry and thirsty, you sent them to beg for food from some brahmins nearby who were busy with a sacrifice.
Gateshvatho teshvabhidhaya tebhidham kumarakeshvodanayachishu prabho, shrutisthira apyabhininyurashrutim na kinchiduchushcha mahisurottamah.
O Lord, when the boys went and asked for rice in your name, those great brahmins, though steeped in the Vedas, acted as if they had not heard and said nothing.
Anadarat khinnadhiyo hi balakah samayayuryuktamidam hi yajvasu, chiradabhaktah khalu te mahisurah katham hi bhaktam tvayi taih samarpyate.
Hurt by this neglect, the boys came back. That is fitting for such sacrificers: those brahmins had long been without devotion, so how could they offer food to you?
Nivedayadhvam grihinijanaya mam disheyurannam karunakula imah, iti smitardram bhavaterita gataste daraka darajanam yayachire.
“Tell their wives about me; these women, full of compassion, will give food.” Sent by you with a gentle smile, the boys went and asked the wives.
Grihitanamni tvayi sambhramakulashchaturvidham bhojyarasam pragrihya tah, chiram dhritatvatpravilokanagrahah svakairniruddha api turnamayayuh.
At the mention of your name the women were thrilled. Taking food of all four kinds, and having long yearned to see you, they hurried to you though their own families tried to stop them.
Vilolapinchham chikure kapolayoh samullasatkundalamardramikshite, nidhaya bahum suhridamsasimani sthitam bhavantam samalokayanta tah.
They saw you standing with a peacock feather swaying in your hair, earrings shining on your cheeks, tender in your gaze, your arm resting on a friend’s shoulder.
Tada cha kachit tvadupagamodyata grihitahasta dayitena yajvana, tadaiva sanchintya bhavantamanjasa vivesha kaivalyamaho kritinyasau.
One woman, setting out to come to you, was held back by the hand by her husband, the sacrificer. Just by meditating on you then and there, she at once attained liberation. How blessed she was!
Adaya bhojyanyanugrihya tah punastvadangasangasprihayojjhatirgriham, vilokya yajnaya visarjayannimashchakartha bhartrinapi tasvagarhanan.
Accepting the food and blessing the women, who were willing to leave home for your company, you saw them and sent them back for the sacrifice, and made their husbands not blame them.
Nirupya dosham nijamanganajane vilokya bhaktim cha punarvicharibhih, prabuddhatattvaistvamabhishtuto dvijairmarutpuradhisha nirundhi me gadan.
Seeing their own fault and the devotion of their wives, the brahmins, now awakened to the truth, reflected and praised you. Lord of Guruvayur, stop my illnesses.
