Sphurat paranandarasatmakena tvaya samasaditabhogalilah, asimamanandabharam prapanna mahantamapurmadamambujakshyah.

Having shared love’s play with you, who are the very essence of shining supreme bliss, the lotus-eyed gopis were filled with boundless joy and grew very proud.

Niliyatesau mayi mayyamayam ramapatirvishvamanobhiramah, iti sma sarvah kalitabhimana nirikshya govinda tirohitobhuh.

“Lakshmi’s lord, who delights every heart, is absorbed in me, in me alone,” each of them thought, full of pride. Seeing this, Govinda, you vanished.

Radhabhidham tavadajatagarvamatipriyam gopavadhum murare, bhavanupadaya gato viduram taya saha svairaviharakari.

Murari, you took with you the cowherd girl named Radha, very dear to you and untouched by pride, went far away, and wandered freely with her.

Tirohitetha tvayi jatatapah samam sametah kamalayatakshyah, vane vane tvam parimargayantyo vishadamapurbhagavannaparam.

When you had vanished, the long-eyed gopis, burning with anguish, gathered together and searched for you forest after forest, sinking into endless grief, Lord.

Ha chuta ha champaka karnikara ha mallike malati balavallyah, kim vikshito no hridayaikachora ityadi tastvatpravana vilepuh.

“O mango, O champaka, O karnikara, O jasmine, O malati, O young creepers, have you seen the one thief of our hearts?” So they lamented, their hearts set on you.

Nirikshitoyam sakhi pankajakshah puro mametyakulamalapanti, tvam bhavanachakshushi vikshya kachittapam sakhinam dvigunichakara.

“Friend, I see the lotus-eyed one right in front of me!” one cried out in distress, seeing you with her mind’s eye, and so doubled her friends’ anguish.

Tvadatmikasta yamunatatante tavanuchakruh kila cheshtitani, vichitya bhuyopi tathaiva manattvaya viyuktam dadrishushcha radham.

Wholly absorbed in you, they acted out your deeds along the Yamuna’s bank. Searching on, they found Radha too, left by you just the same because of her pride.

Tatah samam ta vipine samantattamovataravadhi margayantyah, punarvimishra yamunatatante bhrisham vilepushcha jagurgunamste.

Then together they searched the forest on every side until darkness fell, and gathering again on the Yamuna’s bank they wept bitterly and sang of your virtues.

Tathavyathasankulamanasanam vrajangananam karunaikasindho, jagattrayimohanamohanatma tvam pradurasirayi mandahasi.

To the women of Vraja, their minds overwhelmed by such pain, O sole ocean of compassion, you appeared with a gentle smile, you who enchant even Kama, enchanter of the three worlds.

Sandigdhasandarshanamatmakantam tvam vikshya tanvyah sahasa tadanim, kim kim na chakruh pramadatibharatsa tvam gadat palaya marutesha.

Seeing you, their beloved, hardly believing their eyes, what did those slender women not do in that moment, overwhelmed with joy? You who are such, Lord of Guruvayur, protect me from illness.
