Yatneshu sarveshvapi navakeshi keshi sa bhojeshiturishtabandhuh, tvam sindhujavapya itiva matva sampraptavan sindhujavajirupah.
Keshi, a dear friend of Kamsa who never failed in any effort, came in the form of a horse born of the ocean, as if thinking that you are won only by one born of the ocean, like Lakshmi.

Gandharvatamesha gatopi rukshairnadaih samudvejitasarvalokah, bhavadvilokavadhi gopavatim pramardya papah punarapatattvam.
Though he had taken a horse’s form, his harsh neighs terrified everyone; the wicked one trampled the cowherd village until he saw you, and then charged at you.
Tarkshyarpitanghrestava tarkshya esha chikshepa vakshobhuvi nama padam, bhrigoh padaghatakatham nishamya svenapi shakyam taditiva mohat.
This horse kicked at the chest of you, whose feet rest on Garuda, perhaps foolishly thinking, after hearing how the sage Bhrigu kicked your chest, that he could do the same.
Pravanchayannasya khuranchalam dragamum cha chikshepitha duraduram, sammurchhitopi hyatimurchhitena krodhoshmana khaditumadrutastvam.
Dodging his hooves, you quickly flung him far away. Though stunned, he rushed at you again, burning with fury, to devour you.
Tvam vahadande kritadhishcha bahadandam nyadhastasya mukhe tadanim, tadvriddhiruddhashvasano gatasuh saptibhavannapyayamaikyamagat.
Then you thrust your arm into his mouth; as it grew, it choked his breath and he died. Though he was a horse, he attained oneness with you.
Alambhamatrena pashoh suranam prasadake nutna ivashvamedhe, krite tvaya harshavashat surendrastvam tushtuvuh keshavanamadheyam.
It was like a new kind of horse sacrifice that pleased the gods merely by touching the animal; delighted, the gods praised you and gave you the name Keshava, slayer of Keshi.
Kamsaya te shaurisutatvamuktva tam tadvadhotkam pratirudhya vacha, praptena keshikshapanavasane shrinaradena tvamabhishtutobhuh.
Narada, who had told Kamsa that you were Vasudeva’s son and then held him back with words when he was eager to kill Vasudeva, came after Keshi’s death and praised you.

Kadapi gopaih saha kananante nilayanakridanalolupam tvam, mayatmajah prapa durantamayo vyomabhidho vyomacharoparodhi.
Once, as you were eagerly playing hide-and-seek with the cowherds at the forest’s edge, Vyoma, son of Maya, full of endless tricks and a menace to those who roam the sky, came to you.

Sa chorapalayitavallaveshu chorayito gopashishun pashumshcha, guhasu kritva pidadhe shilabhistvaya cha buddhva parimarditobhut.
While the cowherds played thieves and guards, he played a thief, hid the cowherd boys and animals in caves and sealed them with rocks; you found him out and crushed him.

Evamvidhaishchadbhutakelibhedairanandamurchhamatulam vrajasya, pade pade nutanayannasimam paratmarupin pavanesha payah.
With such wondrous games, at every step you renewed the matchless, boundless rapture of Vraja. O Lord of Guruvayur, the Supreme Self, protect me.
