Padidavarige bedida varagala, needutali dayamadutali, nalidadutali benne bedutali Krishna.

Granting the boons asked by those who sing to him, showing kindness, dancing with joy and begging for butter, Krishna danced.

Stamping on the serpent and holding its tail in his hand, he danced with ringing steps; dark curls danced on his face that shone like the moon; the bells on his anklets jingled ‘ghalu ghalu’ and the bells at his waist swung. Sri Krishna planted his little feet on the wicked Kaliya and stamped down hard, ‘taddhimi tadhiganatom’.

The gods rained flowers, the women all sang, the serpent’s wives begged the Lord for mercy and praised him in many ways, and the demons, seeing his fierce might, fled in every direction. ‘This is no little boy, he is Purandara Vitthala!’ Yashoda quickly and proudly lifted Sri Krishna, Venkataramana, and smothered him with kisses.
