Sura Pan Korine Ami

1. সুরাপান করিনে আমি, সুধা খাই জয় কালী বলে।
   মন-মাতালে মাতাল করে, মদ-মাতালে মাতাল বলে॥

   Surapan korine ami, shudha khai Joy Kali bole. Mon-matale matal kore, mod-matale matal bole.

   I do not drink liquor; I drink nectar, crying “Victory to Kali”. It makes my mind drunk, and the drunkards call me a drunkard.

   मैं शराब नहीं पीता; ‘जय काली’ कहकर अमृत पीता हूँ। यह मेरे मन को मतवाला कर देता है, और शराबी मुझे शराबी कहते हैं।

2. গুরুদত্ত গুড় লয়ে, প্রবৃত্তি মশলা দিয়ে মা।
   আমার জ্ঞান-শুঁড়িতে চুয়ায় ভাঁটি, পান করে মোর মন-মাতালে॥

   Gurudotto gur loye, probritti moshla diye Ma. Amar ggan-shunrite chuay bhanti, pan kore mor mon-matale.

   Taking the molasses my guru gave me, Mother, and adding the spice of longing, the distiller of knowledge brews it in the still, and my drunken mind drinks it.

   माँ, गुरु के दिए गुड़ में लगन का मसाला मिलाकर, ज्ञान रूपी कलवार भट्टी में शराब टपकाता है, और मेरा मतवाला मन उसे पीता है।

3. মূলমন্ত্র যন্ত্রভরা, শোধন করি বলে তারা মা।
   রামপ্রসাদ বলে এমন সুরা খেলে চতুর্বর্গ মেলে॥

   Mulmontro jontrobhora, shodhon kori bole Tara Ma. Ramproshad bole emon sura khele choturborgo mele.

   The vessel is filled with the root mantra, and I purify it by saying “Tara, Mother”. Ramprasad says: drink such wine and you gain all four goals of life.

   मूल मंत्र से भरे पात्र को मैं ‘तारा माँ’ कहकर शुद्ध करता हूँ। रामप्रसाद कहते हैं: ऐसी सुरा पीने से धर्म, अर्थ, काम, मोक्ष चारों मिलते हैं।
