Viral maaran aindhu malarvaali sindha miga vaanil indhu veyil kaaya, midha vaadai vandhu thazhal pola ondra vinai maadhar thandham vasai koora, kuravaanar kundril urai pedhai konda kodidhaana thunba mayal theera, kulir maalaiyin kan animaalai thandhu kurai theera vandhu kurugaayo.

Mighty Kama showers his five flower arrows, the moon in the sky burns like the sun, the gentle breeze comes and scorches like fire, and spiteful women taunt me. To end the cruel ache of longing in this innocent girl who lives on the hunters’ hill, won’t you come close in the cool evening, give me your garland and end my sorrow?

Wise one, gladly worshipped by Shiva who loves to hold the young deer; boldest of heroes, who hurled your sharp spear so the mountain and the demon’s mango tree fell and the surging sea trembled; you who clear the troubles of devotees who know you through wisdom and bow at your feet; great Lord seated on the lovely red-gold peacock, who delights in Tiruchendur by the waves.
